There Is a New Debate Dividing the Internet Because Some People Don't Understand How Time Works

There is a new internet debate on the streets and much like many that have come before it, there is really no debate to be had whatsoever. This iteration of the “Tweet Everyone Must Weigh In On” pertains to your perception of the passage of time. It asks, if a meeting scheduled for 12 p.m. is moved forward by two hours, is it now occurring at 10 a.m. or 2 p.m.?

The answer is quite clearly 10 a.m. If something is being moved "forward," it is occurring earlier. I can’t even fathom the fact there are people who could take that terminology to mean the meeting is now occurring later, but that is actually somehow the majority.

But being in the supposed minority — Twitter is never indicative of real life — does not make me any less correct. When you break it down like my friend Jeff D. Lowe did, you see how there’s really only one option.

Everybody is going back and forth about the terminology of the meeting being moved forward. But when you consider that in order to have that opinion, you would also have to say that a meeting being moved "back" means it's now earlier, you see how there is only one correct answer.

I don’t give a damn what that guy has to say about different theoretical perceptions of time. I have never once thought about time either moving towards me or me moving forward in time. You don't get to tell me what my brain thinks when that has never crossed my mind in my life.

If you say we’re moving a meeting forward and delay it, you are an asshole.
