Does 'Boner Dogs' Have A Producer? Pardon My Take Pitches Judd Apatow
On today's Pardon My Take, film producer Judd Apatow joined the show to talk about his new movie, "King of Staten Island," comedy in 2020, his career, and more. And what's an actor/producer coming on the show without a "Boner Dogs" pitch? Plenty of celebrities have been on PMT and have been offered voiceover roles for the soon-to-be-popular movie, but now it was time for Mr. Cat and Mr. Commenter to try and lock in the brains behind the operation: a producer.
Mr. Cat: We have a movie.
Mr. Commenter: We've got most of your friends that are already loosely attached.
Mr. Cat: Yeah, Adam Sandler has been loosely attached to it. Do you want to hear our movie pitch?
Judd Apatow: Of course I want to hear the pitch. Let me hear it.
Mr. Cat: Maybe a little more enthusiasm when you say that...
Judd Apatow: I'd love to hear this pitch. Give me all you got!
Mr. Cat: OK, it's called "Boner Dogs."
Mr. Commenter: It's a dog with a boner, that's basically it. It gets lost and then it comes back because...
Mr. Cat: Drags in the snow. It's kind of "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" meets "Hansel and Gretel."
Mr. Commenter: everyone's like, "Oh, no, this dog has a boner. It'll never be good for anything." And then the dog's like, "Actually, I'm a very good sled dog because you can use my boner as the North Star to find our way back home when we get lost in the snow."
Mr. Cat: And Adam Sandler's involved. I think we gave the role of the voice of the boner to Will Ferrell.
Mr. Commenter: Yeah, David Spade is involved as well, Topher Grace.
Mr. Cat: Zac Efron is a definite yes. Hard yes, no pun intended.
Judd Apatow: I have a question. What if the dog gets sad and loses his boner?
Mr. Commenter: That's the, uh, second act, right there.
Judd Apatow: That's exactly it. This is what I would do as a producer. We have to dig deep and figure out what is the emotion that leads to the lack of the erection. And then how does he get the erection back?
Alright, well I guess we can consider this a start. While it may not have been a definite yes from Apatow, he at least kept Mr. Cat and Mr. Commenter on their toes by keeping the brainstorming session alive. The momentum continues to shift in a positive direction for making this movie become reality. Stay tuned.
