This Is What Getting Drafted by the Mets Looks Like

If that is not the ultimate "fuck me" moment, I don't know what is. You've worked countless hours over the better part of two decades to become a professional baseball player and then Mr. Met comes smashing through the wall like the Kool-Aid Man to ruin your life. Everybody in the background is just excited Pete got drafted and he's thinking about all the ways the New York Mets are going to ruin his career, like they have done countless others.

I know Pete Crow-Armstrong has to pretend he's actually excited to get drafted by the Mets, but you know damn well every game he plays in the minors, he's just going to be praying to be part of a big trade. Just once during the MLB Draft — or any sport, for that matter — I'd love to hear a guy say, "You know what? I'm actually not too thrilled to be a Met right now. I'm kinda pissed, actually"

And while a kid picked No. 19 overall would normally forego college baseball, that picture leads me to believe Crow-Armstrong is strongly considering honoring his Vanderbilt commitment. Would you rather play in the SEC and compete for a couple national championships or play for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, dreading the day you're called up?

Bonus Pete Crow-Armstrong fun fact: his real-life mom played Billy Heywood's mom in Little Big League.
