An Elderly Belgian Man Has Been Getting False Pizza Orders For TEN YEARS, 'Shakes' in Fear Whenever He Hears Pizza Scooter Coming

A 65-year-old man in Flanders says he is “losing sleep” because he has been receiving pizzas he never ordered for nearly a decade, sometimes several times a day.

Nothing - and I mean nothing - is worse than having someone prank call a delivery driver to your house. It's a classic to break out on your friends when you're in like high school but as you get older you just realize how much of an inconvenience it is to all parties involved. The delivery driver shows up to an unsuspecting customer's home with the goods and within seconds it's an awkward confrontation. Hilarious if you're the one pulling the prank, terrible if you have to deal with the delivery guy. It just sucks breaking the news that you won't be paying him in the slightest bit because they get mad at you like it's your fault. It's just such an unnecessary ordeal.

What I'm getting at is I can get where this 65-year-old man is coming from. Except for the part about losing sleep. I can't say I've ever lost sleep because I stay up late at night praying a delivery man doesn't come knocking. This guy is being put through hell.

Over the past nine years, pizzas he never asked for have been delivered to Jean Van Landeghem’s home in Turnhout, in the Antwerp province. “It started nine years ago,” Van Landeghem told Het Laatste Nieuws. “Suddenly, a pizza delivery man handed me a whole load of pizzas. But I hadn’t ordered anything,” he added.

This man is just tryna live his life and for almost a DECADE these pizzas just keep showing up. You gotta move out of that place after 6 months of deliveries, let alone ten fucking years. Guess this guy is too strong to run away from his problems. Idiot.

Also, did he say the delivery guy just handed him the pizzas? As if they were already paid for? If that's the case we have a totally different scenario on our hands. The inconvenience of a random delivery guy showing up at your door is that you have to pay them if you want to take a spin on the wheel and hope it isn't dogshit food. If it's already paid for, I don't see the problem here.

If they aren't already paid for, this guy is just ruining every delivery man's day by sending them back with just a shit ton of food. It's not his fault the pizzas keep coming, he just doesn't want them in the slightest bit. It makes you wonder if he ever snuck in a pie or two. Like the delivery driver shows up at the perfect time and the old man agrees to pay just once. Very likely, no?

“I cannot sleep anymore. I start shaking every time I hear a scooter on the street. I dread that someone will come to drop off hot pizzas yet another time,” he added.

I'm just imaging this guy just curled up in all of the blankets, anxiety coursing through his veins, waiting. Waiting for that little sound of a scooter's engine to turn onto his street. A modern nightmare if you ask me.

One day in January 2019, Van Landeghem said, ten different delivery men showed up at his house, one of which had 14 pizzas with him.

“I have always refused the deliveries, so I have never paid for anything,” he said, adding that the harassment is not only annoying for him, but also for restaurants.

“It costs them money and they have to throw the food away. On the day that ten deliveries showed up, I did the math: it cost €450,” Van Landeghem said.

Ok, so a bit of a shocker here but this guy who is calling in the orders is an absolute dickhead. It's one thing if every once in a while - like once a week or something - but when you're calling in 14 different orders in a day, you're a fucking dick. Plain and simple.

Not only that but this prankster must've called an array of restaurants to get this done. No shot is there a single restaurant making fourteen false deliveries. I'm honestly surprised the word hasn't gotten out amongst the Belgian pizza slingin community. It seems like something that all pizza shop owners could come together and put an end to real quick. You'd think that after a decade of these false orders, these restaurants would learn to not deliver to this guy's house because he won't pay anyone a fucking dime. Maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part.

“A friend of mine who lives in Herenthout is going through exactly the same thing as I am. She has been receiving pizza she has not ordered for nine years, too,” Van Landeghem said.

“Sometimes we both get them on the same day. When that happens, we warn each other to expect a delivery,” he said, adding that it is likely someone they both know.

The plot thickens. Kind of wild that these two haven't been able to narrow it down yet. It can't be that hard to find a mutual friend/foe that might do such a thing. I say that but in reality, these two have been looking into this case for 10 fucking years, they've probably exhausted all of the obvious options.

He reported the false deliveries to the police several times, he said, but he still has no idea who the person harassing him is. “I cannot take it anymore. When I find out whoever has been bothering me for the past nine years, it will not be their best day,” he said.

I'm surprised the police don't have some sort of way to triangulate the location in which the order was placed. It just seems like something they'd be able to do but what do I know. I'm just praying for whoever is sending these pizzas because it sounds like this guy will not be accepting any apologies on the matter anytime soon.
