Rod Brind'Amour Is PISSED About The 24 Team NHL Playoff Restart Plan

When Brind'Amour finds out that 24 teams will make the playoffs

When he finds out that the Hurricanes have to play the Rangers

"WHAT WAS THE 68 GAMES WE PLAYED FOR? WHAT DID WE GRIND FOR? THE BULK OF THE SEASON WAS COMPLETED AND THEY JUST THREW THAT OUT"--ROD THE BOD BRIND'AMOUR

The Hurricanes hate this format so much that they were one of two teams to vote against it

Of all the teams that got fucked by this 24 team playoff format you could argue that Carolina got the most fucked. Sure, the Oilers have to play Toews, Kane, Keith and Crawford and the Penguins will have to face a healthy and rested Carey Price, but Carolina...woof. They get the Rangers. A young, hungry, Rangers team that can skate with the Hurricanes and have BIG time star power to push them through. Panarin is the type of player so special that he can win a game almost by himself. That is a BAD recipe for the Canes who...were 0-4 against the Rangers this year. A good reason for Brind'Amour to be BIG MAD about the playoff format. Here is the thing though...just shut up. There was no way to make everyone happy. And had the NHL played out the rest of the regular season there was no way to guarantee that the Canes would've even made the playoffs. They were only two points up on the Rangers, Panthers, and Islanders were all within 3 points of the wild card spot with a dozen or so games to go. Now, at least the Hurricanes are in the dance, get some TV revenue, and some more game experience. You win some you lose some. The matchup sucks for them, but there's not going to be any fans so the Canes kind of have home-ice advantage.
