Would You Buy A Piece Of The Moon For 2.5 Million Dollars?

LONDON – One of the world’s largest lunar meteorites goes on private sale at Christie’s on Thursday, valued at 2 million pounds ($2.49 million). The moon rock, weighing over 13.5 kilograms (29 pounds,) was probably struck off the surface of the moon by a collision with an asteroid or comet and then showered down on the Sahara desert. Known as NWA 12691, it is thought to be the fifth largest piece of the moon ever found on earth. There is just 650 kilograms (1,433 pounds) of moon rock known to be on earth. “The experience of holding a piece of another world in your hands is something you never forget,” said James Hyslop, Christie’s head of science and natural history. “It is an actual piece of the moon. It is about the size of a football, a bit more oblong than that, larger than your head.”

Like many meteorites that are discovered, it was found in the Sahara by an anonymous finder after traveling some 240,000 miles to earth from the moon. It then changed hands and was carefully studied.Scientists can be certain of its origin after comparing it with rock samples brought back by the United States’ Apollo space missions to the moon.

Lemme as you question, do I look stupid to you? I probably do because I am pretty stupid but even I'm not stupid enough to buy a 'piece of the moon' for millions of dollars. You gotta be kidding me this. Don't piss on my head and tell me it's raining with this 'piece of the moon' bullshit. Oh sure yeah I'll take it and while you're at it why don't you get me a piece of Mars, blades of grass from Narnia and some tree bark from the Forbidden Forest. What I'm trying to say is, how the fuck do we know they're auctioning off an actual piece of the moon? Exactly, we don't. Seems like a pretty convenient item to sell for top dollar. One of the few items in the entire universe where you can slap a multi million dollar price tag on and say, "Take my word for it." Get the fuck outta here.

And sure the people selling the 'piece of the moon' can say they've had it tested and that space scientists have approved its legitimacy but who's to say they're not all on the take as well? 2.5 million dollars is a whole lotta cheddar and can be spread around in a lot of different ways. Pay off an auctioneer here, pay off a  couple space scientists there and boom you're printing money by selling a rock you tripped over in your backyard. No thank you.

All I'm saying is if you buy that so-called piece of the moon and you're no smarter than Joe Dirt
