Thanks To A Bunch Of Corruption (Uhh, No Duh!) There's A Chance The US Could Host The 2022 World Cup Instead Of Qatar

[Source] - Former FIFA president Sepp Blatter, who is serving a six-year ban from football, has stated that the awarding of the 2022 World Cup to the United States or other well-developed countries is still a possibility after fresh corruption charges were brought forth by the U.S. Department of Justice.

Last week, Russia and Qatar both released statements denying the charges, but formal proceedings could potentially push through change regarding the upcoming tournament host where years of speculation and conjecture could not.

“Europe therefore would not be first choice. The United States could do it instead of 2026. They are capable, it’s not rocket science! Japan could also do it. They also bid to host the 2022 World Cup.”

I know Sepp Blatter is banned from soccer and arguably the most corrupt person not only in sports but ever. But hear me out. Just put the fucking World Cup in the United States in 2022. First off, why are we giving it to Qatar besides corruption!? There is not one reason besides they paid in order to win. If this goes on in Qatar they are playing the World Cup in November-December.

Uhh, no. The World Cup is supposed to give us day time events during the summer. That's one of the biggest selling points of the World Cup. You go to the bar at like 2pm on a Tuesday to watch the US play. Slapping it in the middle of the busiest part of the sports schedule is so fucking stupid. You have college football, NFL, college basketball, NBA and the NHL all going on. This should be enough of a no-brainer to move it to the US.

That said, Qatar's defense against the corruption charges is laugh out loud funny.

Qatar’s denial of the latest allegations was forceful, although their defense continues to shift from “we didn’t do anything wrong” to “you can’t prove it.”

It's a legit grade school argument. It's when you get in trouble, you know you're in trouble and you're searching for a way out. You just scream 'not uh' followed by 'prove it.' Who amongst us has never used that excuse in an argument against a teacher or parent? The you can't prove it defense is tried and trued.

Oh let's not forget that this would also guarantee the US a spot in the World Cup. There was nothing worse than missing the last World Cup. Sure, I like soccer and will watch it regardless, but not having the US in the World Cup is just wrong. Like I said we need those 3-4 party days during the summer. Nothing like World Cup parties.
