Best Picture Oscar Winner PARASITE Is Now Streaming On Hulu

The best movie of 2019 (and '18...and '17) and winner of the Best Picture Oscar is now available to watch on Hulu. If you haven't seen PARASITE yet, do not watch any previews and do not read any reviews---just go in blind.

I was familiar with its brilliant director Bong Joon-ho from both SNOWPIERCER and OKJA, two disparate but highly entertaining films. So I was curious about PARASITE from the get-go. When it won the Palme d'Or and tons of critical praise, I was all the fuck in.

Entering the cinema, I had no clue what it was about or what I was in for. Given Bong's previous works and the title---PARASITE---I suspected I might be in for some type of sci-fi or action/adventure movie. A little over two hours later, I remained in my comfy recliner in stunned, sated silence. I had just experienced visceral reactions and eye-covering moments that I hadn't in the theater in I don't know how long.

I'm usually a poker face in the theater whether I love the movie or can't stand it. PARASITE was a notable exception. And that was because of the acting, screenplay, and masterful direction. I couldn't help but drop a "holy shit!" once or twice.

Because people are dummies, they love to show their asses on Twitter. Like foolishly claiming a movie is "pathetic" or that "It’s not in English, no one wants to watch a movie that they literally have to read to understand what’s going on. Sound is such a huge part of movies and it being in a different language is so weir s (sic)". Imagine having to watch a movie like the majority of the rest of the world watches U.S. releases?

Hulu had the perfect reply...

Hey, if you don't "do subtitles" for whatever reason, that's your prerogative, to miss out on fantastic movies from all over the globe because, well, I don't know why. (Obviously, I'm not referring to folks who have dyslexia or learning disabilities that make simultaneously watching and reading a movie a nearly impossible task for them.) I did refer (read: strong-arm) PARASITE to a handful of subtitle-averse folks in my orbit. And every one of them was blown away by the film and pretty much forgot they were reading subtitles because they were so absorbed by the film.

PARASITE is a masterpiece and accomplishes what most movies aspire to: cross cultural boundaries and invisible borders to make incredible art accessible to anybody who watches it and to move them in some way, regardless of where they lay their head at night or what their native tongue is.
