ESPN May Move Kirk Herbstreit And Chris Fowler To The Monday Night Football Booth

My heart sank when I read this tweet.

SOURCE-For example, reports have said ESPN has tried to land Peyton Manning once again, wanted to sign Tony Romo and even offered Drew Brees a contract for when he retires from the NFL.

One other option being considered, according to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, is moving the top college football broadcast team — Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit — to the Monday Night Football booth.

I, personally, love Herbie and Chris on ABC's game of the week. I think they are the best duo in the sport. I would hate to lose them. Hearing their voices makes me think of big Saturday night games in the fall.

Of course, ESPN cares more about its NFL product than its CFB product. It makes sense, there is more money in the NFL. Joe Tessitore and Booger McFarland just didn't work last season. I'd assume Kirk and Chris Fowler would be phenomenal on Monday Night Football, I would just hate to see them removed from the college game for selfish reasons.

The good news? We'd probably get Joe Tessitore and Booger McFarland back on Saturdays. I wouldn't hate that trade just based on the insanity of what Booger says on a broadcast by broadcast basis and Joe Tessitore is a great play-by-play guy.

On a side note, I saw this floated by Golf Digest today on Twitter, but could you imagine this?

Would be amazing. However, if Herbie isn't there? I'd be big sad.
