Jim Carrey Mooned Cam Neely To Get The Perfect Reaction From Sea Bass In DUMB AND DUMBER

When word got out that Spittin' Chiclets would be interviewing Cam Neely, more people wanted us to ask about his role as Sea Bass in the classic DUMB AND DUMBER than about his HHOF career. I certainly got it. I mean, it's a Top 5 to 10 Comedy of the Last 40 Years©. And Cam does absolutely crush his role.

But the guy was the second fastest ever to score 50 goals. He did it in 44 games and Wayne Gretzky did it in 39. But Gretzky did it on two functioning legs, Neely didn't. He was already a few seasons into dealing with the devastating avalanche of injuries that would curtail his HOF career at just 30 years old and he had played just 22 two games in the previous two seasons combined. That just makes his feat all the more impressive. It's why he was a shoe-in for the Masterton Trophy that year.

Bruins fans watched him battle back from injuries for years. It was a constant storyline because he would play hurt for five fucking NHL seasons. In the five seasons following Ulf Samuelsson's dirty hit that triggered the begining of the end of Neely's career, Neely averaged 1.18 points per game; in 162 games, he put up a ridiculous 123-68--191. I watched him pour his heart and soul and blood and guts into once again being such a dominant force that he gave the hockey vernacular a new addition, the power forward. So when he officially hung them up on September 5th of 1996 in a funereal presser, I shed a few tears along with Neely from my third-floor penthouse bedroom up at STATE. It hurt to watch because it was so heartbreaking.

Fortunately, he gave everything to the Bruins for 10 seasons before that. And there was plenty to be thankful for.

While he might have been done with hockey, Neely wasn't done getting in front of the cameras. You might remember him from the "Face-Off" episode of "Beverly Hills, 90210" back in Season 7.
