When Will People Stop Being Idiots? The Answer Is Never.

WJLA - A Maryland man has been arrested by the Charles County Sheriff’s Department for violating Gov. Larry Hogan's emergency order that people may not gather in groups larger than 10.

According to to the sheriff's office, Shawn Marshall Myers, 41, hosted a gathering of approximately 60 people Friday night for a bonfire in the 15000 block of Lukes Lane in Hughesville .

When he repeatedly refused orders to disperse the group, he was arrested and charged, according to a statement from the sheriff's office.

I don't get it man. I just don't get it. You can look at every statistic. Every piece of data. Every other country. And now our country. And everything says "stay inside, don't go out, don't go to friends houses", etc etc etc. It's pretty cut and dry at this point.

But there are people are just don't give a single fuck. They can check their pantry, their cabinets, wallet, coat pockets, everywhere, and they won't find any fucks at all. This dude Shawn Myers had a party and 60 people showed up. i don't even know who I hate more, him or all the people who were in his little house swapping spit with each other. They all should have been thrown directly into jail.

It made me wonder, "what will it take for people to stop being idiots?" And the answer is NOTHING. There is not one thing that will stop a guy like Shawn Myers and his friends from being idiots. Not the shutting down of all movie theaters, sports leagues, bars, public places, anything. Nothing matters to them. Half that party could get COVID, a couple might die, and nobody would care.

It happened to me yesterday at the grocery store. People at the grocery stores act like nothing is going on. I couldn't believe it. Just ass to dick like one of those trains over in India. Employees hip checking you out of the way so they can grab a pint of ice cream from the freezer. It was crazy. If you are anxious about this entire ordeal, as I know a lot of people are, find a grocery store that is limiting the number of people in the store, supplying sanitizer, etc. Because the one I went to it was business as usual and people acted like it.

It looked a lot like this:

And then they have tape down at the checkout line. Not quite 6 feet apart, I'd say more like 4. But the thought is at least there. Well the guy behind did not give a fuck. He absolutely refused to stand at the tape. He was basically straddling my basket just to be a dick. I asked him what he was doing and he said "this whole thing is overblown, it's not a big deal". After some back and forth I had to be the bigger person and let him go in front of me because he would not back away. I'll say this- even if *you* are smarter than every scientist and doctor in the world and have decided this is no big deal, maybe just don't stand inside of people's assholes for their peace of mind. It seems pretty easy to do but some people simply refuse to care about others. And that's the unfortunate reality of the world we live in. It sucks.

I'm pondering doing a blog about the long-term mental affects of this pandemic/quarantine. The fact we can no longer feel safe going to the grocery store is not good. And we're just going to jump back into 20,000 person arenas or 80,000 person stadiums in a few months? It seems unlikely.

And the whole isolation thing. For most people who are staying at home, not seeing friends or family, it's really hard. We are being told as humans not to see other humans. To avoid all relationships. It's such a bizarre time to be alive.

The thing for me isn't the staying at home- I love staying at home. It's the anxiety of how long this could go for because people like Shawn Myers and his cool cats and kittens refuse to. Will we still be at home in June? July? When does it end? And when we are given the "all clear", what does that mean? It's not like 0 cases of COVID will pop up. There's not going to be a 0% chance of getting it from say, going to a football game, for over a year. That's just the reality of our world right now.

So again, please, stop being an idiot. And for the love of god, stop breathing into people's mouths at the grocery store. Wait for them to finish looking at the boneless, skinless chicken breasts before you rummage through them. It's simple things like that which help out everyone.

Thank you and gosh bless.
