Superagent Scott Boras Is *Hopefully* Here To Save The Baseball Season

(Los Angeles Times)

There is a growing sense among baseball executives that a best-case scenario for the sport would be an 81-game regular season beginning around July 1 and a postseason in October. There is also a fear among some that the 2020 season might be canceled in its entirety.

Boras is more optimistic. He believes a June start is “well within the vision of what could be,” and said he has submitted proposals to Major League Baseball for a 162-game season that would begin June 1 and a 144-game season that would start July 1.

Both feature a playoff schedule that would run Dec. 3-26, complete with wild-card games, five-game division series, seven-game championship series and a seven-game World Series. Postseason games would be played in eight domed stadiums and three Southern California stadiums.

INJECT THIS HYPOTHETICAL PLAN INTO MY VEINS SCOTTY!!!!  FEED IT TO ME!!!

Now I HATE change. LOATHE it, in fact.

- I HATED that baseball instituted replay
- I HATED that baseball league affectively outlawed LOOGYs
- I HATED that baseball had the all star game decide home field in the World Series at one point

Blah blah blah.  If this were some off the reservation plan as a means to target a new demographic or new nationality, like playing in England and shit like that, I'd say fuck this.  But I am dying, DYING for baseball right now. I don't care one iota if I have to fly to Anaheim to watch the White Sox shit on the Yankees in the ALDS or drive to Milwaukee when the White Sox are on their way to another World Series sweep this winter. Baseball is baseball is baseball. If you offered me the choice today to get 144 games in with playoffs in December and maybe a thanksgiving twin bill vs. Houston or some shit, I am taking that 100000000x out of 100000000.

I'll even concede having fans in attendance. I'm totally fine with watching 144+ games from my couch, so long as baseball is actually being played.

Sure, it'll suck waiting until June and no, I'm not positive Jerry Reinsdorf and his coalition of owners would sign off on fielding a team without playing home games once it's too cold to do so, but I think I speak for everyone right now that we don't give a single flying fuck about a bunch of 80+ year old billionaires not making a profit on gate sales.  That said, I can already see this being an issue.

Fuck

Just gotta tread water, figure out a solution to this pandemic bullshit and start this season asap. That's it. I am dying over this, you guys. It straight up kills my soul.
