NYC Racetrack Has $270K Stolen In What Appears To Be 'Inside Job'

From the Queens Chronicle:

The Saturday night robbery of Aqueduct Race Track has law enforcement thinking it just might be an inside job.

It was just before 10:30 p.m. on March 7 when two bandits wearing surgical masks intercepted money being transferred from the counting room as it made its way toward the elevator that leads down to the vault room.

The robbers were armed. The security guards were not.

The NYPD and the New York Racing Association have confirmed that the duo made off with a haul of $270,000, making it one of the largest heists in Aqueduct history. So far, no arrests have been made and the heist is still under investigation, an NYPD spokesperson said.

Has anyone seen Lo Duca or Blackjack lately???? ha ha, heyyyo.

Going off all the info I've seen (the NYPD has a video & has been releasing photos of the suspects) I don't think the people who did it will get too far.

But Queens is home to another very famous heist where they did get away… (You might remember from the movie Goodfellas.) The infamous Lufthansa heist at JFK Airport took 36 years of investigation leading to a single arrest in 2014. The $5.875M worth of cash & jewels was never recovered and the other participants were not caught.

While we're on the topic - things could always be worse - A similar style job just took place in Chile where a whopping $15M was stolen from the Santiago Airport…

That one involved at least 7 men & two vehicles painted to look exactly like DHL vans… They also have yet to be caught.
