Dr. Disrespect Just Signed A New Deal With Twitch And Is Now MEGA Rich

[Editor's Note:This is another guest blog from prospective Gaming blogger, @UnfilteredNerd, who knows his stuff and then some. Go and give him a follow.]

I’m not shocked by this announcement one fucking bit. Doc has been VERY outspoken about how Twitch is where the gaming community is ever since Ninja made the jump to Mixer.

Just watch the first minute of that video. He’s absolutely right. There’s nothing inherently wrong with Mixer, YouTube Gaming, Facebook Live, or even Caffeine TV. They’re all decent streaming platforms with their own pros and cons, but that’s not where the audience is. It’s still on Twitch and no one can compete with them. In fact, I’d have to crunch the numbers but I’m pretty sure if you combined all the concurrent viewers across every streaming platform other than Twitch, it would still not match the giant community that the Amazon owned platform has grown over the last decade. Even with the departure of big name streamers like Ninja, Shroud, Courage, Valkyrae, and Disguised Toast just to name a few, Twitch has still remained the dominant platform by a very wide margin.

Again, that doesn’t mean that the other streaming platforms are bad; I actually used to stream from Mixer for about a year. But at the moment, the ceiling for streamers on every platform other than Twitch is drastically lower. It’ll even out eventually, but in the meantime the two-time back to back 1993-1994 Blockbuster video game champ will be staying put as one of the biggest streamers on the biggest streaming platform in the world. yayayayayayayayayayayayaya.
