Why Arguing With WhiteSoxDave Is Fucking Impossible

WSD wrote his blog this morning. This will be a quick rebuttle because that is all I have the energy for after battling with Dave not only on this topic, but many arguments over the last 7 years since I have known him.

He is correct that this is when things got heated

And I brought it up to him as soon as I walked in the door because I received a DM from a listener that Chief's argument that he was "good that one year in Minnesota" was stupid.  That's where we both flew off the handle, because Chief says "NOBODY GIVES A FUCK ABOUT YOUR DMs"

I got triggered here because this is WSD's favorite thing to do in argument. Cites random other people who DM him and act as if some fuck stick with an opinion is an authority because he agrees with WSD when historically agreeing with WSD is a good indicator that you're on the wrong side of the argument.

Now, you can decide for yourself if you think Bridgewater had a good year in 2015. He led the Vikings to 11 wins by managing the game, getting the ball to AP, and throwing to Kyle Rudolph, a young Diggs, and Coderelle Patterson. The Vikings had a gameplan that allowed them to win 11 games and host a playoff game and Bridgewater executed it. If you are unimpressed by the stats, that's fine. You could argue whether or not his stats or his season were "good".

What you can't argue is that he stunk. Which is what WSD said. You could also argue whether or not you'd rather have Mitch or Bridgewater, I suppose. Which was the argument and it was lost because THAT is what it means to argue with WhiteSoxDave. When you enter into an argument with WSD be prepared to fight a war on as many as six different fronts.

Dave says that arguments can shift. Uhh…the argument shifts 99% of the time with WSD because HE SHIFTS them. Did the argument shift? Not in my eyes. What I was trying to argue didn't change. I was always talking about the same thing. Is Bridgewater better than Mitch. WSD though…you never know which way he's going to go. When you're arguing with a normal brain person you expect to agree on a point of contension and make arguments for your side and battle it out. Kind of like the barguments thing Barstool is running with Labbat. Well when you argue with WSD not only do you need to argue your point but you also have to argue you the six or seven other things that are NOT relevant to the original discussion because that is how WSD fights. It's like you're in the Revolutionary War and you're lining up to fight your agreed upon battle and then Dave sneaks off and starts a forest fire and then you have to go put that out and then wrangle him back to the original argument. It's like playing whack-o-mole constantly with his other thoughts before you can get him to make his point. It is exhausting. Here is the evidence

I never made him do this. He even said this morning that in a vacuum that he would take Bridgewater too. How did he reach that conclusion? Probably because he saw Teddy go 5-0 for the Saints(which he then dismissed/qualified by saying he was playing for a good coach) and because Teddy got the Vikings to the playoffs in his first full year as a starter. That is the craziest part. Dave agrees with me that Teddy has been good enough, in Dave's own words and opinion, to be a better option than Mitch. Yet somehow WSD, because it's just who he is, argued essentially against his own opinion for an hour because he couldn't decide what the argument was all about.

That to me is WSD in a nutshell. If you're not used to it then it can put you on the backfoot. His brain is going to 100mph, but it doesn't have a steering wheel. It takes an unbelievable amount of phsyical endurance and mental patience to have a coherent argument with WSD, but I wouldn't change him. He's a character. As Portnoy said when he first bought Redline Radio in August 2018, WSD is contentious. He will battle you on anything and everything, even things you're not actually arguing about. He is one of a kind. He might be wrong about things, but he is honest and passionate and that brings color to office. Every group should have a WSD but you need to have headphones and advil ready at all times.
