Big Win Against The Lightning Extends The B's Atlantic Division Lead To 9 Points

Thanks to a 2-1 win last night against the Tampa Bay Lightning the B's lead in the division is now back up to 9. A close win that saw Jake DeBrusk snap his 10 game goalless streak and an under the weather Brad Marchand (food poisoning) extend his point streak to 10. Tuukka Rask earned his 25th! win of the season as well.

Brad Marchand was a game time decision (bad salmon) yet opened the scoring thanks to a great feed from Torey Krug.

The Lightning thought they had the game-tying goal late in the 1st but Bruce Cassidy challenged for offside and WON.

Again, Johnson was offside by a millimeter and it came back. Truly should've been a good goal but I've always said I've loved the ability to challenge for offsides.

Midway through the 2nd Jake DeBrusk buried a breakaway (even after being tripped) and snapped his goalless drought.

Mitchell Stephens gave the Lightning life late in the 2nd, but the Bruins locked them down the rest of the way for the 2 points.

FINAL: Boston 2, Tampa 1

News, notes and quotes:

- Brad Marchand was a game time decision but ultimately played and opened the scoring. Said he ate some bad salmon and had food poisoning but played through. Extended his point streak to 10 games in the process

- Jake DeBrusk scored the game winner, a goal he desperately needed. You can tell by his celebration how much he needed it. Was tripped in the process but settled the puck and buried it past Vasy. Hopefully this gets him going.

- The PP was the only abysmal part of the game. But I'm gonna chalk it up to 63 not being 100%. Just out of wack.

- The most important part of the win? The B's have extended their lead atop of the Atlantic to 9 points on the Lightning. 15 games to go. A clinical road win. Onto the next.

- Tuukka Rask earned his 25th win of the season with his 20 save performance.

Back at it for another important divisional game tomorrow night against the Panthers. They need a win to stay in the playoff race (5 points out). I for one will be in the building. Should be a good one.

p.s.. PAY TOREY KRUG

It was a great night to win a hockey game.
