Flat Earth Daredevil 'Mad' Mike Hughes Dies After Homemade Rocket Crashes

Due to finding myself on the flat earth side of the internet, I was well aware of Mad Mike Hughes. As you can tell by his name, the man was certainly crazy, but also very entertaining. He was known for daredevil stunts, like this one, throughout his life. Just in 2018, he found himself in the hospital due to a similar incident.

You may be thinking why the hell would somebody shoot themselves up in the air via a homemade rocket? There are a billion reasons if you put yourself into the mind of Mad Mike Hughes. One major one seems to be that the Discovery Chanel was there filming for the 2020 series Homemade Astronauts. Another was Mad Mike's quest to get as close to space above the earth's surface (62 miles) without the use of advanced tech. There is a quasi space race to be the first person to do that without any advanced technology.

It's also worth noting that Mad Mike was working on his own flat earth documentary called 'Rocketman.' His ultimate plan was to prove the earth was flat by triggering a balloon to carry him to the Karman line, which is a barrier that separates the atmosphere from space. He'd take videos/photos from there to prove that the earth was, indeed, flat.

RIP to Mad Mike Hughes. A lot of people will make fun of him and whatnot, but I think it's pretty cool to see a 60-year-old go out trying to find his truth without harming anybody else.
