Emilio Estevez is BACK as Coach Bombay!!!!!

(Disney Press Release) Emilio Estevez is reprising his iconic role as beloved Coach Gordon Bombay in the new Disney+ original series “The Mighty Ducks.” Based on the ‘90s hit franchise, the 10-episode series will premiere later this year on the streaming service.  In addition to starring, Estevez will serve as an executive producer.

Once a Duck, always a Duck!,” said Emilio Estevez, “and after 25 years, I am delighted to lace up my skates, put on Coach Bombay's jacket and return to play the iconic character for this new chapter in ‘The Mighty Ducks’ franchise.  Likewise, I am thrilled to return to my old stomping grounds with my friends at Disney and Steve Brill, the original creator of the franchise, to join them on their exciting new platform, Disney+.”

This is TREMENDOUS news! Coach Bombay is one of the more inspirational movie characters I can remember growing up. Did I understand the gravity of the drunk driving situation at that time in my life? Well, no. But that didn't stop me from thinking he was the fucking man, and wanting to be one of the bash brothers. We don't know a TON about this series so far, but it will star Lauren Graham (the mom from Gilmore Girls) and Brady Noon (one of the kids from 'Good Boys').

According to Disney: "In the 10-episode series, Graham will play a hockey mom who sets out to build her own team and "challenge the cutthroat, win-at-all-costs culture of competitive youth sports" after her son is "unceremoniously cut from the Ducks,". That description makes me think this is going to be like an amalgam of the original movie, 'Little Giants' (Shoutout to Rick Moranis who is back in the new HISTK movie), and a little bit of 'Kicking and Screaming'. As long as it isn't too soft, I'm in! DUCKS FLY TOGETHER!
