Montreal Says The Rays Will Enjoy Playing In Montreal More Than Florida Because Florida Stinks Out Loud

(Tampa Bay) - "Say the shift (to Montreal) happens second week of June, mid-June," Bronfman said. "School season is over. Family moves up, they move to Montreal for the summer. Wives are happy. Much nicer city to be in than St. Petersburg, please. Much more cosmopolitan. Much more fun."

Remember last year when the Rays came out with a hilarious plan to split half their home games in Tampa Bay and the other half in Montreal? Well, apparently that's still very much their plan. Especially after Rob Manfred came out and called it "the best way to keep baseball in Tampa."

Which brings us back to the above quote from Stephen Bronfman, the head of the group in Montreal who is actively working to steal the Rays from Tampa. Anyone with two eyes and a semi-functioning brain can see that's what is really happening here. This guy is playing Tampa like a fiddle and they don't even realize it yet. They think this guy really wants to share the team between multiple cities. You think this guy wants anything to do with that crud town St. Petersburg? A city with zero cosmopolitan panache? A place wives actively hate living in? For sure not. If he's already lobbing bombs like this before the deal is even official what's he going to start saying once Montreal has a stadium that's drawing 10x the fans to every home game? You think the Bronf Man hasn't already plotted out the next 10 steps in his head to get all 81 home games in Montreal within the next decade? Of course he has. And, to be honest with you, I'm on his side. Not because I think Montreal is some sort of cosmopolitan paradise, but because the Trop stinks out loud, Rays fans aren't real, and - most importantly - I want to see what else this genius mastermind has else up his sleeve. Anyone whose grand plan starts with stealing the Rays from Tampa can't be too much of a threat so once he completes this step I really wanna know what's next for Big Bronf's world takeover tour.
