Red Sox Fans Continue To Grasp At Straws And It's Very Sad To See

This offseason has truly been a disaster for the Boston Red Sox. If it weren't for my eternally evil, ill-wishing heart I might actually feel bad for them. The 2019 season saw them missing the playoffs entirely, finishing 3rd in the AL East. Then they got roped into one of the bigger cheating scandals in baseball history and had to fire their beloved manager, Alex Cora. At any minute we're going to be getting that Jeff Passan tweet saying Mookie Betts has been traded. Yes, that Mookie Betts. The 27 year old franchise player who is great at seemingly everything he does, yeah they're just going to trade him away because their organization is poor. Oh also they're currently under investigation by Major League Baseball for what they did in 2018 with illegal sign stealing. It's been rough for the boys up north. So what do they have to turn to in times like these? Point the finger at their bitter rivals, the New York Yankees, and pray something happens.

Enter senile Peter Gammons.

This single tweet has given Carrabis life. It's so pathetic. I feel bad for the guy. Wait, no I don't. He's sat in his dungeon all offseason doing whatever he can to bring the Yankees into this investigation. He cannot process that the Red Sox could possibly be guilty here and the Yankees aren't. He doesn't even understand what exactly Major League Baseball is investigating. His apartment must look something like this.

Peter Gammons did an interview with WEEI recently and dropped that Chris Young, a former Yankee and Sox player, told him he started the Apple Watch scandal and got it from the Yankees. Yes, the same Peter Gammons who regularly sends these tweets.

All of a sudden he's the voice of reason? He didn't even get the years right that Chris Young was on the Yankees.

Update: Gammons is already walking back his comments on the radio.

An investigation was launched by Major League Baseball against both teams at the time and they found both teams to be guilty of things. The Red Sox for the use of Apple Watches and the Yankees for the improper use of a bullpen phone to see if a pitch was called a ball or strike. Referring back to a NY Times article MLB actually interviewed Chris Young.

As part of the inquiry, baseball investigators have interviewed the Red Sox team trainers and outfielder Chris Young, a former Yankees player.

You think he wouldn't have spilled the beans then? And if he did, you think Major League Baseball wouldn't come down on the Yankees like they did the Red Sox? This is the New York Yankees we're talking about. Public enemy number 1. You think Major League Baseball is just going to let them slide when they blatantly cheat? Fuck outta here, they go right to the top of the list automatically.

As I've said multiple times, I'm sure the Yankees, along with every other team in baseball, improperly used the replay video room in the past, prior to 2018. There was a giant gray area in the rules back then and teams got away with things. I don't think anything the Red Sox or the Yankees did back then was anything remotely close to what the Astros were doing.

Here's the important thing that Carrabis still isn't getting through to his small brain. The Red Sox and Yankees were told to stop after Major League Baseball investigated them. The Yankees did. The Red Sox did not. That's why they're under investigation by Major League Baseball. They refused to stop and Rob Manfred is not happy. It's really not a hard concept to understand, but when you've had the offseason Carrabis and Sox fans have had I guess grasping at straws is all you have left.

P.S.

Jared refuses to believe this, but all of these bad things have happened since the Red Sox damaged the World Series trophy. Makes ya think.
