"Target Tori" Gets $30,000 DOLLARS In Donations After Toolbag Journalist Shames Her For Not Letting Him Steal A Toothbrush
Quick follow-up to my blog from this weekend about the journalist who called the police over a mislabeled electric toothbrush:
I blurred out her face in that first blog because I refused to give David Leavitt the public shaming he was looking for. But now Target Tori is putting her face out there herself, thanking all the strangers on the internet who are the exact, polar opposite of David Leavitt when it comes to "quality of human being":
…the tables turned when many commenters started to bash Leavitt instead of Perrotti — and some supporters even launched a fundraiser to send her on vacation.
The page had racked up more than $31,000 by Tuesday morning, far exceeding its $5,000 goal.
“It’s so often that people will take the picture and make a meme out of it in a mean way,” Perrotti told NBC Boston. “So, it’s nice to see there’s publicity out of this to support me and my feelings.” (NY POST)
30,000 bucks. Unreal. From where I'm sitting, I'd take $30 grand for an internet shaming any day — but I get that most people don't work at Barstool Sports, where getting demolished by strangers on the internet for your looks just comes with the territory. Most normal people in normal jobs don't expect to get their face plastered up on Twitter and retweeted 100,000 times just for doing their job at Target.
David Leavitt wanted to shame this poor girl for basically not letting him steal a $90 electric toothbrush. He thought everyone would take his side once he displayed Massachusetts Pricing Laws. He'd be a conquering hero for all the little guys out there held down by big corporations and Big Target. Instead, millions of people saw what an absolute toolbag he is and the cashier he wanted to destroy just got thirty thousand dollars.
Target Tori isn't even keeping all of the money — she's planning a vacation to "somewhere warm," but donating most of it to "charities that support retail workers."

A noble cause. I would have bought 333.37 Oral B Pro 5000s, snapped them in half, and dropped them off one by one on David Leavitt's doorstep every day.
But she's a better person than I.
And everyone's a better person than David Leavitt.
She took Leavitt’s Twitter post in stride.
“My first thought was I wish I had worn makeup to work that day,” she joked.
