When Did The Dolphins Even Have Time To Practice Having Their Punter Throw To Their Kicker?

This shouldn’t have worked. There’s no way this should have worked. But it did, the Dolphins – for as much as they’ve sucked all season long – just broke out one of the most impressive trick plays I’ve ever seen at this level. And all I want to know is: when the fuck did they practice this? Because this is a play you can’t just draw up on the sideline and hope everything goes well. This was practiced, multiple times, to the point where the coaches were comfortable calling it in a game. Why? For what reason? Just to take a lead against the Eagles at the tail end of a meaningless season? I love it and it’s hilarious that a two win team with no quarterback or really obvious future plan in tact has been using valuable practice time on plays like this. If anything I hope they lean into this and revert back to the Wildcat days of old and exclusively run trick plays. Traditional plays haven’t been working out too hot for the past, I don’t know, 20 years, so why not? Just be the trick play team. That lane is available for the claiming and I can’t think of anyone with less to lose.

PS – How furious are the Colts right now? In their dreams this is exactly how their play worked.
