Sad Day In The Dog World: Butler Blue III, Butler's Live Mascot Is Retiring And Getting A Goodbye Tour This College Hoops Season

There are a few things in this world that I know - they include hoops and dogs. Now you combine the two and I've never felt more confident in saying Butler just became the favorites to win the Big East and possibly the national title. You don't give your beloved mascot Butler Blue III a goodbye tour without winning. Those are just facts.

I have to admit I even got a bit teary-eyed during the tribute video. If you didn't then it's safe to say you have absolutely no sole. I mean look at that guy. Just living his best life getting held up like he's in Lion King. Playing with other dog mascots and just having a grand old time.

I love live mascots. We need more live mascots, especially in the dog world. I mean think about how well known they are? You have Butler Blue, you have Jack at Georgetown, you have Yale's bulldog and Mississippi State's. Hell, even Smokey makes Tennessee look good.

Oh, don't worry though. Blue IV is in the works and will be announced in the coming year. Crisis averted there at least.

Never forget when Blue threw up all over the lane at MSG

PS: I blame the NCAA partly for that. If they never lock him out of the NCAA Tournament, he's going for another year, I firmly believe that:

PPS: Apparently his trainer is retiring too and Blue III is going to live with him and his family.
