The Cubs Need To Bring Joe Maddon Back Right Now

I’m not crying you’re crying. Even though I just said I was crying in that tweet a few hours ago I want to be clear I’m no longer crying.

The reason for that is I have exhausted every tear in my ducts. I’m out of tears. Can’t cry any more.

As we move forward as Cubs fans and do this manager search thing, it’s important to remember a few key things. First, playoff baseball is significantly improved when the Cubs participate. No disrespect to the Brewers fine season and Washington Nationals drubbing last night and every other team. It just slaps harder when you got the red white and blue, Wrigley Field and Joe Maddon’s Cubs involved. And now that there’s no Joe much less no Cubs, it makes things that much worse. So that’s point #1 = the playoffs are better when my team advances. Totally unbiased opinion.

Point #2 = whoever hires Joe Maddon is extremely lucky. The more I sit and think about the Chicago Cubs, and the more 2+ minute twitter videos I watch, the more I realize that our next manager will be a downgrade regardless. Maybe the team improves and blah blah blah. But don’t ever forget that the bullpen is stocked with guys who pitch to contact and there’s been ZERO player development under his tenure. Joe didn’t get shit to work with in modern baseball terms if we’re being honest. And we run him out because that’s the next narrative in line and it makes sense to get 1 new guy to work with 25 players than the other way around.

Even so, Joe isn’t going anywhere and knowing we could see him in the playoffs down the road kills me.

Point #3 = really wish this ended better. For nothing else you make one hell of a potato pancake Joe
