Who doesn’t love a good old fashioned grudge and this right here is a prime example. It’s been multiple decades since the 1999-2000 unanimous MVP snub and if you think Shaq has forgotten about that well clearly that video clip tells you he very much is not over what Fred Hickman did. That’s a tough look because let’s be honest, if there was a player and a season that was worthy of being an unanimous MVP, it’s that 1999-2000 Shaq season. He led the NBA in both scoring and FG% averaging 29.7 on 57.4%. He was second in rebounding and third in block shots. A season so dominant he was the only player since Kareem to finish in the top three since he did it in 1976. By all accounts it was one of the most dominant seasons ever by a player who is legit the most dominant in his prime that the league has ever seen. Instead, Hickman voted for Allen Iverson, who in his own right was pretty damn good that year but he certainly did not have a better season than Shaq. I love how honest Shaq is about that snub as it clearly still bothers him. It doesn’t matter that he won multiple rings, multiple Finals MVPs, and is one of the greatest players to ever play in the league. That one vote still keeps him up at night and he clearly has no intention of ending this grudge.
