A Student Was Bullied For Rocking a Homemade Tennessee Shirt For His School's College Day - Tennessee Then Put The Shirt In Their Official College Store And Sold So Many The Site Crashed

ABC News

A Florida boy who was bullied and laughed at for his homemade T-shirt representing the University of Tennessee Volunteers at his elementary school’s college colors day has not only had his design made official by the university – but the demand for the product is so high that it crashed the school’s website. It all started when Laura Snyder, the unnamed boy’s teacher at Altamonte Elementary School in Altamonte Springs, Florida, posted the story about the Tennessee-obsessed student.

“This particular child came to me and told me that he wanted to wear a University of Tennessee shirt, but he didn’t have one. We discussed that he could wear an orange shirt to show his spirit. He told me every day leading up to it that he had an orange shirt that he was going to wear”, Snyder said in her post.

When the day finally came the boy showed up to school wearing his orange shirt with a piece of paper attached to it with his homemade design of the University of Tennessee logo drawn on.

An elementary school in Florida decided to have a college day where every kid was encouraged to wear some kind of college shirt to represent their favorite school. One of the boys wanted to rock a Tennessee shirt but didn’t have anything official. He told his teacher he was going to wear an orange shirt and put a piece of paper on it that said “U.T.” He was so pumped to wear it. Credit to him for being a real fan even though the football team is straight garbage these days.

The kid is in elementary school, he can do whatever he wants. As someone who has made a few dumb shirts in their day, I’m accustomed to criticism about my designs. The difference is I’m 25 and this kid is like 11. All of the students in the school proceeded to bully him at lunch. Enough to the point he ran back to class, buried his head in his desk, and cried. All of this because he wanted to wear a Tennessee shirt! A t-shirt!? Who cares? Let him do his thing.

“After lunch, he came back to my room, put his head on on [sic] his desk and was crying. Some girls at the lunch table next to his (who didn’t even participate in college colors day) had made fun of his sign that he had attached to his shirt. He was DEVASTATED,” according to his teacher.

Word spread about the bullying and the University of Tennessee decided to be heroes and made the design an official shirt of the school. They put it on sale in their school store, having some of the proceeds go to STOMP Out Bulling. A few hours later the store crashed because they sold so many shirts.

So fucking cool. The Tennessee football team might stink more than you can believe, but this is as good of juju as I’ve ever seen. Wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t lose the rest of the year and finished 10-2. Probably not, but it’s a nice thought to have right now. If something was going to turn their season around this is it. Genius move by the folks over there. Gotta believe they throw the kid a scholarship too right? Maybe let him play quarterback this week against Chattanooga.
