College GameDay Is Headed To Ames Next Week For The First Time Ever For Iowa vs Iowa State
Well well well. This was the likely outcome after Maryland blew the doors off Syracuse today but now it’s officially official, the College GameDay crew is headed to Ames next Saturday for the Iowa/Iowa State game. It’s the first time ever that GameDay will step foot in Ames, Iowa.
I gotta be honest, I hate Ames. It’s a place on earth that I despise. As a guy who grew up spending most of his college football Saturdays in Iowa City, the city of Ames just doesn’t do it for me. Iowa City is one of the best college football towns in the entire country and Ames is pretty ehhhhhhhhh. That is my completely unbiased take about a town that houses my least favorite university. And I don’t do this because I’m a scholar and a gentleman but some people call it Lames, get it? You get it. I’ve spent a few Saturdays in Ames and enjoyed myself but that was only because I was blind drunk and forgot where I was.
With all that said though, I’m pumped GameDay is headed to Ames for Iowa vs Iowa State. That’s gonna be an absolute SCENE next Saturday. Despite their many faults, Iowa State students are people too and, most importantly, they’re people who decided to live in the greatest state in the country so they’re not all bad. And they know how to party. Do people remember VEISHEA? I know Iowans remember VEISHEA but other people might not. VEISHEA was a week-long party held on ISU’s campus.
What happened to VEISHEA, you ask? Why am I referring to it in the past tense? Because riots in 2014 happened and it got cancelled forever
It was pure CHAOS (hence why they called them riots) but the bottom line is Ames knows how to party with the best of them. Couple that fact with TONSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS of Hawkeye fans flooding west and we might have another VEISHEA on our hands. Everybody loves a good riot. There’s gonna be so many Iowa fans there oh my god.

Lastly, I’m happy GameDay is going to Ames, but Iowa is gonna dog walk the Cyclones next Saturday. Iowa State STINKS. They really stink. They stink so much it took them THREE overtimes to puke their way to win against Northern Iowa. The Cyclones will have two weeks of rest under their belts when they meet up with the Hawkeyes but it won’t matter, they’re gonna get killed. Iowa is maybe probably actually good. Corso better put on Herky’s head or he’s a bold faced liar. But again, I’m happy for Iowa State for getting GameDay to come to town.
PS- My official guess for guest picker is Georges Niang.
