Goodbye Big Rig - Pat Maroon Signs With The Tampa Bay Lightning

There it is. We've known for a while that it was very doubtful the Blues could afford to bring him back but now it is official and it doesn't make it any less sad to see him go. Pat Maroon is a heart and soul guy who wears his emotion on his sleeve. The past year was about as big of a rollercoaster as you could possibly imagine and he stuck to his guns the entire time and was rewarded immensely. Being at the parade and seeing Pat on stage in front of maybe a 100,000 people as a hometown hero is one of the coolest things I've ever seen in my life.

The Rig's time on the Blues ended as incredibly as it could have and while it is sad to see that he won't be on the roster next year, we will have enough memories of #7 from the past few months to last a lifetime.

Without these two plays, the Blues very well may not have won the Cup.

(Most likely the biggest goal in St. Louis Blues history)

This is a great signing for Tampa Bay. They had so much talent last year but were lacking the heavy physical game in the playoffs. Now they get a guy who JUST won a Cup, and can bring an edge to a team full of elite skill for only 900k and a 1 year term. The biggest win/win imaginable for a team like that. For the Rig, there is a real chance he can go back to back, and for the Blues, they bring back almost the entire roster from a Stanley Cup Champion team. Everybody wins.

P.S. I'm going to have to convince Boris aka Rat Maroon not to use any of his mojo on the Lightning this year. He was the Rig's biggest rodent fan by a long shot and old habits don't go away easily.
