AFC West Recap - OAKvsARI

The Raiders scored on their first 4 drives, pretty much routing the Cardinals until the backups came in. They held onto the lead, winning 33-26.

Oakland Raiders v Arizona Cardinals

Mike Glennon was the star of the day, finishing 11/14 with 2 touchdowns and a perfect QBR (Carr left after the first drive, but also had a perfect QBR and a touchdown). He was hitting everything he was supposed to, and nailed a 53-yard BOMB to Rico Gafford. Keelan Doss had the most consistent night among the receivers, catching all 5 of his targets. Tyrell Williams also had a sneaky great 27-yard catch along the sidelines as well. The run game was more-or-less negligible, with the offensive line not able to push the Cardinals off the line much.

On defense, the highlight of the night was Lamarcus Joyner’s safety. He did a great job getting around the edge and forcing Murray backwards instead of lateral. Brandon Marshall and Ethan Westbrooks (Who you might remember getting signed for the cut Ronald Ollie in Hard knocks), both had a sack as well. The second unit defensive guys were ok, but the influx of third team defense guys was bad. Joshua Holsey got roasted for a TD on what should have been a pretty easy deflection, and Sherfield ran straight through 2 guys for a score as well.

Notes: The offensive line has to just be better overall. They need to prevent the QB pressure they’ve been allowing and create more opportunities for their running backs. They play the Packers at home next thursday.
