Son Got a BMW Instead of the Jaguar He Wanted, So He Pushes the Car into a River

SourceA young man in India has pushed his brand-new BMW into a river in an apparent protest against his parents’ refusal to buy him a Jaguar for his birthday.

Police in the north Indian state of Haryana say the 22-year-old man, identified only as Akash, received a BMW from his parents as a birthday present.

According to local media, the man’s father is a wealthy landlord and the 22-year-old son already owned several SUVs.

The son apparently had demanded a new Jaguar for his birthday and was unimpressed with the BMW, which he thought was too small.

A BMW was retrieved from a river in the district of Yamunanagar, with a team of local police using ropes and a rubber boat to reach the partially submerged vehicle.

The young man’s father told local media that his son had not deliberately driven the car into the river but had swerved to avoid an antelope on the road.

According to that news report, India has the fastest growing rate of wealthy individuals in the world right now. And with so much new money being generated like this, it’s inevitable that they’re going to run into a lot of situations like this. Of course, I’m talking about shitty parents.

There’s a learning curve to becoming super rich. Mistakes will be made. You just have to learn from them. For example, good recovery by Akash’s dad, making up that excuse about the near-miss antelope accident. But let’s be honest; he was just covering up for his own failures as a rich parent.

If we in America have learned anything from “My Super Sweet 16″ – and we have learned very, very little – it’s that you don’t buy your child the insanely expensive luxury car they didn’t ask for. You only buy them the insanely expensive luxury car they demanded. And for the love of God, don’t give them their Lexus too early and ruin the party her life the way Audrey’s mom did because she is such a bitch:

It’s not complicated, people. If you want to show your children you love them and expect to get love in return, you have. To. Spend. The. Money. True affection doesn’t come from the heart; it comes on a printout taped to the inside of a driver’s side window. And if you try to express it with some ratchet showroom new BMW instead of a Jaguar, expect to only get BMW-level love in return. Which means you’ll find your cheapass “gift” getting the full Teddy Kennedy treatment. Let those guys in the pontoon boat risking their lives to pull the car out of the drink drive it, because your Pride & Joy deserves better.

So do better, Akash’s parents. You’ll be lucky if he accepts your Jaguar at all now.
