Long before Kevin Durant was considered a snake and someone who ruined the NBA by joining a 73 win Golden State team, everyone pretty much loved him. A legit star on a small market team who at the time sounded committed to OKC. Given how things have drastically changed in terms of the perception around KD,  you sometimes forget that on this day 8 years ago Durant had one of the best streetball performances you’ll ever see, becoming an instant Rucker Park legend

What an awesome moment. If you remember this was during the NBA lockout and Durant was coming off his second consecutive scoring title so by this point NBA players were looking to play anywhere and everywhere. It wasn’t all that uncommon to see guys hit up Rucker Park and other places like the Drew League in order to get some run in. But not everyone had a performance like what Durant gave us on August 1st, 2011. The way the crowd got more and more hyped every time Durant touched the ball only to see him make everything he threw up had to be the coolest feeling in the world. He was so pure from like 40 feet, it didn’t matter. You knew if he touched the ball, he was going to score.  The way he embraced everyone that stormed the court Durant was truly a man of the people and is pretty crazy to see given what we know would happen in the future. That whole scene was about as pure of a basketball moment that you’ll ever see and it’s hands down an all time Rucker Park moment.

Hearing him talk about that legendary performance is pretty cool too, so if you’ve never seen it here ya go

Something tells me we’re going to get more of these moments once Durant gets healthy since he’s now in Brooklyn and that is something I can definitely get behind.
