Didi Gregorius Says Holding Back CC Sabathia From a Brawl Was Like "Holding a Bear"

CC Sabathia is going to be 38 years old in a few days. He’s in the final months of his final season in Major League Baseball. He sees the light at the end of the tunnel and has decided to stop giving one single fuck about anyone or anything. He’s not taking any shit from anyone, including the air. Yes, the air you and I both are breathing in right this very second.

Carsten Charles had no quarrels with anyone as he walked off the mound in the 6th inning after getting a strike 3 call on Avisail Garcia. He was just mad about life and started yelling at no one in particular. He’s old. He’s grumpy. He just likes to yell. The rest of baseball just has to deal with it.

You can clearly see Garcia ask CC if he did anything wrong and CC responded “no.” It was completely innocent. Garcia didn’t want any smoke. He was genuinely curious if he did something wrong. That should’ve ended the screaming right there. Instead CC created a fight out of nowhere, because that’s what old people do. I respect it.

Didi Gregorius was last night’s contestant on “who gets to prevent CC from fighting the Tampa Bay Rays?” He described the experience as trying to hold back a bear.

I can’t wait for CC to pitch up in Fenway next week. That should go smoothly. No fights at all. Nope. From him? Never.

P.S. Carrabis actually asked me earlier today why CC is retiring. His stats would make him the 2nd best pitcher on the Red Sox staff this year which is amazing. Over his last four starts his ERA is a fantastic 3.24. He’s one good start away from lowering his ERA on the season to sub 4. We’ve gotten as much as we possibly can out of the big fella. Get him a ring on his way out for christ’s sake.
