The 'Avengers: Endgame' Final Battle in 16-Bit Takes You Into the Weekend

SPOILER: I’m not issuing a spoiler. If you haven’t seen the most anticipated and now highest grossing film of all time by now, you are too disengaged from your own culture, you’re irrelevant and there is no hope for you. Move deep into the Yukon forest and out the rest of your life alone.

I’m working on this list of all time “Whoa” moments in movies. Not necessarily surprise endings, though they could be. I’m thinking more along the lines of those moments that just make your jaw drop in awe, no matter how many times you see them. The T-Rex attack in “Jurassic Park.” The Warden of Shawshank finds Andy’s tunnel. The horse’s head scene in “The Godfather.” Heston comes upon the Statue of Liberty on “Planet of the Apes.” “I … am … your father.” Phoebe Cates’ bewbs, and so on.

Well I knew in an instant I’d have to make room for the battle scene at the end of “Avengers: Endgame.” In a 23-movie cinematic universe full of amazing moments, this one put them all in the dust. How “Whoa” is it? So much “Whoa” that it still gives me a sense of awe with the same graphics and sound you got on your Nintendo GameBoy in 2004.
