Kaapo. Fucking. Kakko.

It’s been quite an offseason so far for the Blueshirts. The back-end acquisitions of Fox & Trouba, inking future Russian lynch pins Kravtsov & Shesterkin, welcoming back John Davidson to the Rangers family and a dose of lottery ping pong ball luck have Rangerstown believing the rebuild has been fast-tracked. With the official selection of Finnish stud Kaapo Kakko second overall it’s hard not to be excited. This kid has superstar written all over his NHL-ready 6’2 200 lbs (and growing) frame & should step in immediately among a young NY core looking to start showing fans the fruits of a tough two seasons.

The Kakkolantern lit the lamp 22 times in 45 Liiga games against grown men, led Finland to WJC gold potting the winner against Team USA, then put on a show while racking up another gold over Canada a few months later with 6 tallies in 10 World Championship contests. He’s a big body who has thrived on the wing but can play all three forward spots & in all three zones. Kakko oozes skill, hands, smarts & the confidence you wanna see out of a kid dubbed one of the two can’t-miss prospects of this year’s draft. He’s got the makeup of a go-to player few teams have to rely on for the big goal when they need it most. No such thing as a “sure thing” but…yeah, this kid is gonna be awesome.

Welcome to Broadway, Kaapo. It’s showtime.
