Ice-T Says He Almost Shot an Amazon Delivery Guy. So Amazon Pledges its Love for Ice-T
Source - Ice-T has a suggestion for Amazon.
On Tuesday, the rapper-actor took to Twitter to explain an incident that occurred at his home Monday night involving one of the e-commerce giant’s delivery drivers.
The 61-year-old star said he “almost shot” an Amazon courier who was delivering a package at his place on Monday because the individual wasn’t wearing a uniform.
In a separate post, a social media user asked Ice-T if the delivery driver was wearing a uniform. His answer? Again, no.
“No. They don’t wear ANY uniform. Just regular people workin,” he noted before clarifying that he isn’t “mad at them.”
“Just sayin. That s–t ain’t safe..,” he added.
That’s the kind of power you cannot buy. Not with all the money in the world. To have that rare brand of celebrity where you can say you almost shot a guy and his employer, the biggest company in the free world, tells you they MF’ing love you, that is breathing the rarefied air that only a few people in Ice-T’s class get to enjoy.
Think about it. Amazon is in every corner of lives. And on every door step. They’ve turned the act of a complete stranger in plain clothes walking up to your door carrying a cardboard box the new normal. In a few years, no one will believe that we used to go to a building to get our consumer goods, put them through a register and carry them home. And if any one of about 99.9% of famous people said they almost shot one of their drivers would cause widespread outrage. Debates about gun control all over cable news. Hand-wringing editorials about violence in our society and online culture. But instead it’s Ice-T. And just what we’d expect from Odafin Tutuola.
Ice-T possesses that unique blend of rapper, actor, badass and professional celebrity that allows him to do pretty much whatever the hell he wants and we’re all cool with it. Like if you told me he shot three delivery guys, raised a million dollars to charity, won an Oscar, got knighted by the Queen and then built a wooden ship by hand and sailed around the world, I’d have trouble believing none of that. Because when you’ve got the most successful corporation on the planet MF’ing loving you and thanking you for not killing their workers, nothing for you is impossible.
