Chick-fil-A Zamboni Accidentally Gives Ride To A Bunch Of Chick-fil-A Protestors

- According to our partners at the Cincinnati Enquirer, a public protest took place at the center of the Cincinnati Cyclones’ game at US Bank Arena where people held “Chick-fil-A is ANTI-GAY” signs.

People snuck the signs aboard the “Fan Zam” Zamboni during the game’s first intermission, according to the Cyclones’ Twitter account.  The “Fan Zam,” labeled for sponsor Chick-fil-A, carts people around the rink.

Folks, I’m torn. Part of me feels morally obligated to side with the protestors because that’s my bread and butter, but as someone who used to drive a Zamboni for a living, I’m having a tough time justifying their actions. Those ten minutes in between periods isn’t about making a statement, it’s about making a pristine sheet of ice and if you’re causing a scene, that becomes infinitely more difficult. Two and a quarter up over the crease with water adjustments is hard enough as it is. Not to mention the poor guy’s probably only getting paid like ten bucks an hour to be there. In other words – not enough to deal with protestors. If I was behind the wheel, I’d have no choice but to run them over.

Although I will say, at least they were organized. Credit where credit is due. It wasn’t a spur of the moment decision, they had a plan with a message and executed it perfectly. It just sucks that they had to ruin some kid’s birthday in the process.

“The signs were hidden inside a birthday sign, according to the Twitter post. The people, who are seen on Reddit riding with the signs in the “Fan Zam” with Chick-fil-A’s cow mascot were tossed by the Cincinnati Cyclones from the game.”

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for the cause, but you only turn ten once.

Here’s the statement the team released via Twitter.

Over under on three months until the Cyclones end their relationship with Chick-fil-A? I’m going under. They were in the news again recently for donating to organizations with anti LGBTQ views, so it’s getting tougher to ignore. Whatever. Joke’s on them. Next time check the signs.
