After Targeting D'Angelo Russell, The Pacers May Have The Best Trolling Fans In The NBA

Brooklyn Nets v Indiana Pacers

It’s been a wild season for Pacers fans. They watched their team get off to a good start and really show to be a legit contender in a wide open Eastern Conference. Then they witnessed their best and franchise player go down and who would have blamed anyone for thinking the season was over. But as we know, they rallied, finished the season way better than anyone expected and enter the postseason as a 5 seed. And while there are a bunch of reasons to like this team from a basketball perspective, I have to give credit to the Pacers for a different reason.

They may have the best trolling fans in the entire league.

You may remember earlier in the year when the Lakers came to town right before the trade deadline. Rumors were swirling with how LeBron was trying to trade his entire roster for Anthony Davis, and the fine people of Indiana did not let the Lakers players forget it

Brandon Ingram stepped to the line and immediately they went into him with a chant that we now can say definitely cut Ingram deep. The thing is, they didn’t stop there. They took their trolling to another level once JaVale McGee came to the line

Listen you make a collective effort to shit on the Lakers you’re going to skyrocket up my personal chart of favorite fanbases. That’s just Day 1 stuff. The thing is, this wasn’t an isolated incident just because of what was happening in the league at that time. Here we are at the end of the season, things are pretty much wrapped up for the Pacers in terms of playoff seeding and all that, and when given the opportunity they went right back to their trolling ways, this time with D’Angelo Russell at the center of it

They hit him with the classic “hide your cellphone” burn. Love it. We all remember the D’Angelo Russell cell phone incident right? The one where he was secretly recording him and Nick Young talking where Young basically admitted to cheating on Iggy Azalea. Not great. So much so I’m pretty sure that had a role in why he got traded in the first place. Since that all went down Russell has been able to joke about that incident, you may remember his Foot Locker commercial

which is why he probably had no problem with the chant from last night. It’s always great to see a player respond to the trolling, and not only did he respond with 20/6 but the Nets also won, so he was able to have the last laugh.

But I still give credit to the Pacers fans for maintaining their trolling tactics throughout the entire season. As someone who is about to watch his favorite team face them in a playoff series, I’m already mentally preparing for the biggest no brainer troll chant imaginable

“Kyrie’s Leaving”

You know it’s coming, I know it’s coming, and the history of Pacers fans going for whatever cuts deepest is there. I’m interested to see what else they could come up with, a simple “overrated” chant when Tatum is at the line isn’t really all that original. In a series in which the Celts will probably be considered favorites, I’m ready for the Pacers crowd to come out and try and snag every little advantage they can. It worked with the Lakers, they lost that game by about a billion points, so I just want to do my part and make this known so the Celts can somehow become aware of this and start mentally preparing.
