Cal's Basketball Players Pretty Much Forced The AD To Fire Their Coach And Now They Want To Hire Jason Kidd

So this isn’t necessarily a surprise. I mean, perhaps the fact that Cal announced earlier in the week that they were going to keep Wyking Jones for another year. But, it didn’t matter once players sort of showed their hand that there would be transfers and met with the AD according to the report.

Now, the names all make sense. Jason Kidd is a former Cal player obviously. He has those ties. You’re seeing more schools end up looking at former players during coaching searches.

BUT WAIT

Well, that’s perfect. The Lakers job isn’t even open. Now, I think the majority of people expect it to open up. But, how long can Cal wait here? If you’re going after Muss as option No. 2 you can’t let another team make a run at him. I mean there are 3 current open positions in the Pac-12 alone with UCLA and Washington State also looking for coaches.

Cal’s going to have make a good hire here and whoever they go with is going to have to work out. They were rumored to be originally keeping Jones because they didn’t want to pay multiple coaches. That’s not the case anymore. Cal should be a successful program. I’m not saying title contender or anything like that, but for them not to be even a top-100 team is just bad. It’s not all on Jones. He was left with minimal talent. But, at the same time this move had to happen after the two year run.

Now we all wait and see on .. Jason Kidd. 2019, man. What a weird year.
