A Spelling Bee In Texas Went On For So Long That They Just Ran Out Of Words. Thoughts And Prayers Go Out To The Dictionary

Source – A spelling bee in North Texas took so long, it literally ran out of words.

It was a regional spelling bee in Fort Worth, and it actually broke the record for how long the entire contest took to complete. Officials say they ran out of words after 63 rounds, something the judges had never seen before. The spelling bee usually only lasts around 17 or 18 rounds. The Scripps National Office had to send the judges 25 new words.

Hey, Dictionary. Get frickin’ dunked on, bro. Never before have I seen the Dictionary get owned as hard as it just got owned in Texas. I guess you really have to start asking the question now–is the Dictionary done or finished?

I mean how do you come back from this? Here you are. The big bad book that has knocked out hundreds and thousands and millions of spellers before. Some of the best spellers in the entire world have been taken down by the Dictionary before. And all of a sudden, a spelling bee in North Texas comes along and hands the Dictionary one of its most decisive defeats in history. 63 rounds and they still couldn’t decide a winner. They actually had to go ask Scripps to send new words because the words these kids were spelling were just too damn easy for them.

It would be like giving Zion an 8′ rim to dunk on. Only these kids are just buzzing through words like “Vivisepulture”. And as it would just so happen, vivisepulture is the act of burying someone alive. Which is exactly what these kids did to the Dictionary during this spelling bee.

So thoughts and prayers go out to the Dictionary, and to its friends and family. I understand this most be an extremely difficult time for all of them, and they deserve their privacy during such unforeseen circumstances.

P.S. – At least the Dictionary can always hang its hat on the time that it dominated Barstool Sports with the word “mayonnaise”. (I spelled that correctly on my first time typing it, by the way. Without cheating. Swear to god).
