Brown University Once Tried To Recruit Keith Yandle And The Story Of The Phone Call Is Unbelievable

We had the Yandle brothers on Spittin’ Chiclets this week and they did not disappoint. I think some of the best stories they told involved recruiting the two of them and what it was like getting recruitment calls in the Yandle household. Whether it was Mr. Yandle telling Merrimack that Keith wouldn’t consider the school because he can’t spell Merrimack, Mrs. Yandle screaming on the phone “my husband handles the hockey stuff” or Keith just completely butchering Dick Umile’s name.

I think the best story we had was the time Brown University called the Yandle’s house and Mr. Yandle told the coach “”The only Brown that kid is going to be seeing is in his underwear”

Imagine being a Division 1 college hockey coach at an Ivy league school and hearing that? You kind of just have to respect it. Kind of funny hearing all the recruiting stories only to find out that Keith opted not to play in the NCAA and decided to go up north and play in the QMJHL for the Moncton Wildcats.
