Kristaps Porzingis Reportedly Met With Knicks Management To Bitch About The Franchise's Culture Of Losing

I’m not gonna do what everyone thinks I’m gonna do and FREAK OUT. No really, I’m not. All this quote tells me is that Kristaps Porzingis has been reading his name in these trade rumors for Anthony Davis just like the rest of us and is also frustrated the Knicks are taking their time easing him back since they finally figured out how to tank and KP wanted to blow off some steam at his bosses. This isn’t anything like the Anthony Davis situation down in New Orleans, mostly because Porzingis is going to be a RESTRICTED free agent this summer and the Knicks can match any offer he gets. Or KP can sign a 1 year, $4.5 million qualifying offer and bet $150+ million on his recovering body. So long story short, Porzingis is stuck here for the time being, no matter how much he stomps his feet, holds his breath, or unfollows best friends on Twitter.

Meanwhile, the Knicks have to worry about what’s at stake right now, which is first and foremost their draft pick that could land one of the Duke Three or Ja Morant. We are also potentially in the Kevin Durant sweepstakes as well as the Anthony Davis sweepstakes. The Knicks have sweepstakes leaking out of their asshole right now. If KP can’t see the big picture of tanking the season away and having the best summer in franchise history, then he is lost beyond belief. Again, there is nothing he can really do other than bitch and moan to the media or on Twitter like Enes Kanter. He should just shut the fuck up and thank God the Knicks aren’t doing what they’ve done pretty much every other season this century and chase wins to make the 8 seed and then sentence themselves to Basketball Purgatory. The reason they are tanking this year is because Porzingis’ ACL exploded after dunking in the Greek Freak’s face (It’s soooo unfair that KP’s dunk went from incredible to tragic in 0.5 seconds) and they figured it would be better to tank then try to compete for the 12th seed in the East. Or KP can tell the Knicks that he wants to go to New Orleans in exchange for Anthony Davis. I’m sure they’d be fine with that, as would I. Hopefully KP doesn’t follow the Pelicans closely though, because their culture of losing is about equal to the Knicks.

If the Knicks want to get a little sassy back to Porzingis, they can show him this stat:

Those are pretty eye-opening numbers because Knicks fans (present company included) have been so in love with KP, we haven’t looked at the hard data of it. It feels like Porzingis has played at LEAST another 60 games than that. Those numbers are trending in the wrong direction for a 7’3″ player that does shit we have never seen before. I hope there are ten 82’s in that column in another decade, but something that should concern us as Knicks fans and clearly something a team like the Pelicans will be concerned about in any trade. I know a good chunk of those games missed, including ALL of this season, are from a fluke ACL injury. But tall, lanky basketball players aren’t exactly known for easily recovering from lower body injuries when they spend their careers running on hardwood. I’m not saying that KP doesn’t have a right to be concerned about the Knicks being a clown shoe operation for most of his time here. He has every right to since his tenure includes the end of the #StayMe7o Era, Phil Jackson’s reign as GM, Derrick Rose vanishing, Joakim Noah getting paid $72 million to do absolutely nothing, and of course this fuccboi signing his checks.

But right now, when there actually seems to be a plan in place with real exciting possibilities for the first time in forever, is the wrong time to be complaining about the Knicks losing.
