'What Happened To America? We're Getting Soft' - Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin On Schools Being Cancelled For Cold Weather

“There’s no ice going with it, or any snow,” Bevin said. “I mean, what (happened) to America? We’re getting soft, Terry. We’re getting soft.”

Bevin later said he was being “slightly facetious,” stating it’s better to err on the side of caution. However, he stated it could set a poor precedent for the youth.

“It does concern me a little bit that, in America, on this and many other fronts, we’re sending messages to our young people that if life is hard, you can curl up in the fetal position somewhere in a warm place and just wait until it stops being hard. And that just isn’t reality. It isn’t,” Bevin said.

Oh hell yeah. Kids these days, man. Soft as shit. No idea what it’s like to go to school when it’s cold. I mean when we went to school in that cold weather it was cold.

Think about it. Kids have no idea what it’s like to wake up and hope you heard the phone ring and someone was calling your parents to let you know school was cancelled. They don’t know what it’s like to sit there and wait for the bottom of the TV to scroll to your school name to see if it was cancelled. They don’t know what it’s like to hop on AOL and see an away message and figure out if it was real or #fakenews.

Sign of America’s downfall if you ask me. Not making kids wait for a bus in -15 degree weather. Not making kids get to school and instead curl up inside of their heated houses. How the hell are we going to expect these kids to be leaders?

What’s next? School getting cancelled when it’s too hot? School getting cancelled when it’s just right outside so kids don’t have to go inside? How will we ever exist with this soft precedent.
