"Leaving Neverland" a 233 Minute Long Documentary About Two Kids Who Michael Jackson Sexually Abused Is Coming Out
A new documentary promising an unflinching examination of Michael Jackson’s child sex abuse allegations will premiere at Sundance this year.
Titled Leaving Neverland—a reference to the pop star’s infamous Neverland Ranch—the film will tell the story of two of Jackson’s alleged victims, both of whom have yet to be identified. “At the height of his stardom, Michael Jackson began long-running relationships with two boys, aged 7 and 10, and their families,” says the doc’s synopsis. “Now in their 30s, they tell the story of how they were sexually abused by Jackson, and how they came to terms with it years later.”
OH GOD. You kind of assumed this was a ticking time bomb with the R Kelly documentary that just came out, along with the rest of the climate on all of this kind of stuff. Victims from all over the place have finally found the confidence and strength to come out and tell their various stories. Well, MJ’s is coming and it’s 233 minutes, bringing it to just under FOUR HOURS long. Yikes. Michael Jackson has been dead for almost ten years now, but there has always been more to his story than the public knew about. Like a whole lot more. The man was twice acquitted of child sexual abuse charges in separate decades, which sends up as big of a red flag as possible. He was always hanging around little children and being extremely creepy, but for the most part everyone stayed silent. Michael Jackson grew up in a family being constantly physically and emotionally abused which led to how he developed as an adult. He was a creative genus with his music, but on the flip side there was a can of worms waiting to explode that looks like is happening with “Leaving Neverland.” I don’t watch a lot of docs, but I’m all-in for this.
