P.K. Subban Texted A Video To A 13-Year-Old Hockey Player Who Has Been Dealing With Racism This Season
P.K. Subban proves once again he is one of the best dudes in the NHL. I feel like a broken record at this point. It seems every couple months I am writing a blog about how Subban helped someone or did something for his community. The guy is just an overall great person who likes to help people and do good. Subban was at it again this past week, sending a text message and a video to a 13-year-old hockey player who has been subject to racist taunts this season.
Reddit user Hockey7676 posted to reddit on Monday that their 13-year-old son had been getting racist taunts this hockey season, so P.K. texted him a video. A gesture no one would have known about if it wasn’t for the parent posting the video to reddit.
Imagine that? Imagine being a kid and having a shitty day at school or at the rink, only to check your phone and see that NHL defenseman P.K. Subban just texted you and sent you a video. All your troubles are thrown out the door. When you’re 13-years-old a simple high five from your favorite professional athlete can make your day, your own personal video message can make your entire year.
Subban isn’t having a bad year himself, missing some time due to injury but the 29-year-old defenseman still has 15 points (3g, 12a) in 24 games this season. The Predators currently sit in 2nd place atop a loaded Central Division. Going to be interesting to see who comes out of that division….between Winnipeg, Nashville and even Colorado, the Central division certainly isn’t the easiest to come out of.
What a move by Subban though, proving yet again that he is one of the best guys in the NHL. You know this isn’t the last the kid will hear from Subban either. I will guarantee he has something up his sleeve for the kid down the line.
