I Guess We Owe Cody Parkey An Apology

Hand up…I owe Cody Parkey an apology. He’s fucked up a ton this year and him doing the double doink seemed so poetically and painfully perfect that OF COURSE it happened again. I’ve watched this gif probably 473 times in the last hour. Over and over so when Parkey said in the post game that he “thought he hit a good ball”…he probably did. We probably reacted unfavorably. Not quite police-escort-Bartman-out-of-Wrigley bad, but pretty fucking bad. Parkey sucks and the Bears should probably sign someone new next year, but he did his job tonight. I think. I don’t know. I’m not a kicking expert. Maybe he hit it as too much of a line drive. Fuck this game.

It doesn’t make the loss feel any less horrible. In fact I actually feel worse because I probably said some things about Cody Parkey and his whole family that I’ll regret. He stepped up, not knowing it was tipped at the line, and faced the music. Respect to Cody Parkey.
