Joe Jonas And Sophie Turner Are PISSED The Cut Published An Article Questioning Nick And Priyanka's Marriage

Well this is awkward. Yesterday The Cut posted an op-ed about Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra’s wedding. The author, Mariah Smith, called Priyanka “a global scam artist” and basically insinuated that Priyanka is so fame hungry that when Nick Jonas showed his interest in Priyanka, her team decided that he would be the one she would marry. They only saw dollar signs and  “trapped” Nick into this relationship. As someone who is in denial about this wedding for the sole reason of my love for Nick, I thought there was a very satirical feel about the article.

However many, many people did not. Smith is getting torn apart on Twitter for this “racist, sexist, and disgusting” article. Joe Jonas and his fiancé Sophie Turner both tweeted their disapproval over the piece. The Cut has since issued an apology and haven taken the article down. I am now horrified of pissing off Sophie Turner. She is one of my top girl crushes. I cannot be on her bad side. I have definitely speculated about the authenticity of this wedding, there is no doubt about that (I said I was #TeamFakeMarriage). I am certainly not the only one who has. Joe and Sophie’s tweets were definitely also aimed at all the doubters (me).

I think the reason people had an issue with Smith’s article was because she mostly concentrated on the shallowness of Priyanka Chopra. She referenced Priyanka saying in the past that she likes to have nice things because she can afford it. Smith also mentioned the extravagance of the wedding, noting celebrations went on for a week, but that holds with the traditions of Indian weddings. That did not sit well with a lot of people.

I can’t say this has absolved all doubts I have had about this marriage. That would be a lie. But I trust Sophie Turner… so needless to say I am very confused. I don’t know what to think anymore.
