Great News, Mike Gorman Isn't Going Anywhere Anytime Soon

Well this was fantastic news to wake up to today. Anyone who has been tuning into the Celts recently has noticed Gorman has not been there with Scal as he enjoyed a nice, well earned, vacation. No shade on Kyle Draper, he is about 1000x better than any of us would be in that same situation filling in, but nobody, and I mean NOBODY can give us what Mike Gorman does during Celtics broadcasts. For a guy who has literally been calling Celtics game for my entire existence on this planet, my brain rejects any other voice at this point. I’ve warmed up to Scal, I don’t mind him like maybe some of you do, but I’m not even close to being able to say goodbye to the Mike/Tommy pairing, and while who knows when it comes to Tommy’s health considering this team may kill him, it is a huge relief to know that Gorman is going to be there for at least 3 more seasons.

Outsiders love to talk about how the Celtics broadcast team are gigantic homers, and that’s true when it comes to Tommy, but Gorman has always called it like he sees it. There really may not be a better play by play guy in the entire business. For me and pretty much any one else who has watched this team over the last 30 years, Mike Gorman is the Boston Celtics. When you think of all the eras of Celtics basketball that Gorman has been a part of it’s pretty wild. His weekly call in with T&R is always a must listen, even when he says things like he isn’t sure they should trade Tyler Zeller. As far as I am concerned these two are NBA royalty and can do and say whatever the hell they want.

I cannot stress how happy this makes me. Perhaps that makes me a weirdo, but I don’t give a shit. Mike Gorman raised me when it comes to Celtics basketball, and I’m going to need scientists to work on how to keep him alive forever.
