Rocky Mountain High: Colorado's Ass Is In The Jackpot Now

By definition lottery is ‘a process or thing whose success or outcome is governed by chance’. In a way, you could say that Colorado’s ass is really in the jackpot now as they won the ‘legalize lottery’ with a green ticket & found success by governing marijuana. (That was a real stretch for the sake of clicks but let’s appreciate my honesty, ignore that & more on.)

The Rocky Mountain high is still going strong as Colorado’s Department of Revenue & its Marijuana Enforcement Division came out with some huge numbers for the state. According to the Denver Post:

Marijuana sales in Colorado exceeded $1 billion as of August of this year, with tax revenue from those sales coming in at $200 million, according to a report from the Colorado Department of Revenue and its Marijuana Enforcement Division.

It’s the earliest point in any of the four years Colorado has had legal recreational marijuana that combined medical and rec sales have cracked the billion-dollar mark.

Total combined recreational and medical marijuana sales through August hit $1,022,245,511, according to the MED, setting the state on a trajectory to break last year’s record of more than $1.5 billion in sales.

I’ve still never been there but Denver & some other nearby spots are high on my travel list. When I finally get there I fully expect the streets to be paved in gold & the mountains to be capped with crushed diamonds.

In the meantime I’ll just have to enjoy a lame CBD coffee or something here in NY & dream…
