We Have Our First Ski Videos Of The Season And They Are GNARLY

I know it’s still early, but I couldn’t help myself. It got cold out yesterday, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about skiing since. My phone must be able to sense it because my entire Instagram explore page is skiing videos. The good kind too, not that boring park stuff. Not that there’s anything wrong with park stuff. I just prefer the big air, backwoods gnarliness. There’s more risk involved. I like watching the video knowing that if they were to screw up they could be permanently disfigured. It makes it more exciting. Take this guy for example, a few feet to the left or the right and he’s in a losing battle to an oak tree.

Credit to me for not referencing Sonny Bono. How his knees didn’t explode is beyond me. I consider myself an above average skier and I couldn’t even come close to what these guy are doing. They’re fearless. I think it all comes down to timing and speed. If you nail those two things the landing will be smooth. If not you’ll end up dead.

A few more months and it’ll be snowy enough to ski in the North East. Granted, the mountains aren’t as large as any of the mountains in those videos, but they’re still fun. Which reminds me of one of the catchiest songs of all time…
