Kanye West In The Oval Office Is One Of The Most Incredible Videos I Have Ever Seen

So for a long time I’ve always wondered, when our children ask us in 10 or 20 years what it was like to live through this era, how we will best explain it. I think I found the answer.

This footage.

It’s incredible. Kanye’s monologue is so amazing it leaves Donald Trump speechless. Donald Trump! Speechless! The guy speaks for hours and hours straight at presidential pep rallies. He demolishes all wannabe competition at presidential debates. He invites journos into the Oval and delivers paragraph after paragraph about his administration. Yet here is, with one of the world’s most famous rappers, sitting dead silent as Kanye delivers an endless monologue. Trump’s completely perplexed. He sits in amazement — puzzled, intrigued, thrilled, and confused, all at the same time — about what’s unfolding in front of him.

Hey Jim Acosta, you nerd, what you got to say about that!!?? (38s mark)

And honestly, what better representation of the times is there than this? Nobody knows what the fuck is going on. Nobody knows what the fuck to do. Is it serious or is it playful? Is Kanye a genius or is he a full blown lunatic? Is this some deeply alarming exploitation or some good old fashioned brotherly love?

According to Kanye himself, he’s not well.

Trump’s silent because… he really doesn’t know what the fuck to do. Of course the guy wants this world-famous black artist to champion his presidency but he also doesn’t want some Oval Office sideshow to fly too far off the rails. Or does he? Maybe he does. Who the hell knows. The journos and photogs are caught somewhere between laughing, crying, and asking questions.

It’s some unfathomable convergence of celebrity, government, artistry, and news. We have reached a surreal reality, and somehow this PERFECTLY captures everything about 2018.
